Role Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Senior Analyst to join the Legal Department’s Intellectual Property Group. This role provides critical support in managing and protecting the organization’s global intellectual property assets, while enabling the business to innovate efficiently, compliantly, and in alignment with enterprise risk standards.
The Senior Analyst plays a key role across IP portfolio management, enforcement, licensing, brand protection, trade secret governance, third‑party IP and data compliance, and the development of scalable tools, training, and self‑service capabilities that operationalize intellectual property best practices across the firm.
Positioned at the intersection of intellectual property law and innovative marketing and product development, the successful candidate will partner closely with attorneys, technologists, risk professionals, and business stakeholders across the enterprise. The role requires sound judgment, a strong sense of ownership, and comfort navigating evolving legal and technological landscapes within a highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities
IP Portfolio Management, Enforcement, Transactions and Licensing:
- Support legal counsel in the management of the T. Rowe Price and its affiliate’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and patents.
- Participate in branding and product ideation initiatives, including conducting trademark clearance searches and supporting application, prosecution, and maintenance activities.
- Support intellectual property enforcement activities, including investigations, disputes, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with the negotiation, drafting, review, and lifecycle management of intellectual property licenses and related agreements.
- Support transaction attorneys by reviewing intellectual property provisions in highly complex commercial agreements with suppliers, partners, and clients.
- Coordinate and manage relationships with external counsel, including oversight of deadlines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Support compliance with third-party intellectual property and data usage requirements, including proprietary and market data.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive trade secret strategy, including identification, protection, education, and enforcement.
- Serve as an initial point of contact for intellectual property and proprietary data inquiries from business stakeholders worldwide, operating independently within established frameworks and escalating legal judgment issues to counsel as appropriate.
Job Aids, Templates, & Self-Service Enablement:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance job aids, templates, forms, playbooks, and clause libraries to support legal and business stakeholders.
- Design and implement self-service solutions that enable efficient business execution while managing intellectual property risk.
- Support the standardization and scalability of IP-related transactional review processes.
Training, Awareness, and Communications:
- Design and deliver training programs and innovative educational mechanisms to embed “IP by design” into business activities and transactions.
- Create and publish internal communications, including blog posts, guidance materials, newsletters, and thought-leadership content, to promote intellectual property awareness.
- Help shape and communicate the organization’s intellectual property narrative to encourage strategic use and protection of IP assets.
Stakeholder Engagement and Network Leadership:
- Lead and manage the organization’s IP Champions Network, fostering engagement, education, and collaboration across business units.
- Serve as a trusted partner to product, commercial, technology, compliance and legal teams on intellectual property matters.
Process Improvement and Technology Enablement:
- Leverage AI and other emerging technologies to automate and streamline intellectual property workflows.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve IP-related processes, controls, and service delivery models.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
- 5+ years of total relevant work experience
Preferred:
- 5+ years of experience supporting intellectual property matters in a corporate legal department or law firm
- Strong working knowledge of intellectual property laws and substantial experience in IP portfolio management, licensing, enforcement, and protection, including trade secret protection
- Experience developing job aids, templates, training programs, and stakeholder-facing resources
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with legal, compliance, product, marketing, and technology teams
- Experience supporting clients in the asset management/financial services sector
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with cross‑functional teams
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
- Familiarity with operational risk and control frameworks in a regulated industry
