Role Summary
As a Senior Technology Project Manager at T. Rowe Price, you will drive the planning and execution of diverse, strategic technology projects, products, or programs. Your work will span multiple disciplines within IT and software development, requiring both deep subject matter expertise and strong leadership. In this role, you will guide project teams, resolve challenges, and ensure all objectives and requirements are achieved. You may also employ Agile methodologies and serve as a Scrum Master.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and direction for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex technology initiatives on time, within budget, and to client specifications.
- Oversee and support a portfolio of projects or a small technology program comprising several interconnected projects.
- Manage all aspects of project management, including reporting, planning, risk and issue tracking, scope management, estimation, client engagement, and documentation.
- Coordinate and monitor vendor deliverables and relationships.
- Develop project budgets and statements of work, including justification and planning; define team roles and responsibilities, and ensure accurate financial monitoring and reporting.
- Ensure projects are appropriately staffed, resources are aligned, and maintain ongoing communication with internal stakeholders regarding progress and achievements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively plan and execute sizeable projects.
- Break down complex challenges into actionable tasks, identify hidden relationships and anomalies, and make informed decisions with limited information.
- Continually seek opportunities for process improvement and influence discussions on root cause solutions, trade-offs, and recommended approaches.
- Guide and mentor project team members, offering suggestions to enhance practices and performance.
- Lead teams for specific projects or tasks and perform other related duties as required.
Business Knowledge
- Advanced understanding of Asset Management, FinTech, and domains such as DMS, Corporate, and Investments.
- Familiarity with the product lifecycle within Financial Services, tailored to functional alignment.
- Make decisions with awareness of the broader business strategy and overall firm objectives.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in project management or related roles.
- Knowledge of operations within the assigned business unit (Distribution, Investments, or Corporate functions).
- Experience managing large-scale, multidisciplinary initiatives in complex financial services environments.
- Strong grasp of technology infrastructure, including testing, QA, production, engineering, and Agile methodologies.
- Up-to-date on best-of-class technologies and industry standards.
- Ability to clearly communicate business strategy, technical concepts, and architectural vision to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Skilled at identifying impacts across teams, managing dependencies, and navigating competing priorities.
- Contribute actively to portfolio management, evaluating technology assets for updates, build vs. buy decisions, and capability alignment.
Preferred:
- Experience in Financial Services, ideally Asset Management, with a thorough understanding of Retirement Plan Operations.
- PMP and/or Agile Scrum Management certification
