About the Position
We are seeking an adaptable and innovative tax senior associate to join our Investment Tax team.
You will join a team committed to operational excellence and a shared sense of purpose in serving the organization and our clients. You will be challenged to manage risk and optimize processes by engaging with a variety of internal teams and external partners and vendors.
You will review tax provisions, distribution calculations, qualification requirements, shareholder tax reporting and tax compliance for mutual funds and ETFs. You will also apply taxation of financial products knowledge to fund holdings. We utilize an external tax service provider and you will participate in the oversight. You will use your technology skills to identify and automate tax operational tasks.
Role Summary
Applies working and conceptual knowledge of practices related to taxation and tax accounting. Develops and delivers tax process documentation, training content, and super user support and ensures content is delivered. Responsible for the accuracy and completion of own work.
Responsibilities
- With minimal guidance, completes day-to-day tax activities in accordance with tax guidelines, including preparing and maintaining tax records, returns, and reports. Performs reviews to ensure tax filing compliance with the organization's policies and IRS regulations.
- Summarizes findings and collaborates with senior staff and the business units in developing plans for remediating tax reporting and filing deficiencies and oversees the remediation status/progress.
- Partners with senior tax analysts and managers to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and manage business performance.
- Acts as the liaison between reporting vendors and lines of businesses and ensures those businesses are reporting proper tax information.
- Provides less experienced staff with direction and training sufficient to meet the needs of the Tax Compliance Program.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree AND
- 2+ years of total relevant work experience
Preferred:
- Expertise in regulated investment company and financial product taxation
- Experience with technology tools including advanced Excel functions, Power BI, and Alteryx
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax or Masters of Accounting
- CPA
FINRA Requirements
FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
Work Flexibility
This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to two days per week from home.
