The Technology Development Center is focused on developing the firm's next-generation data distribution platform, aiming to seamlessly deliver real-time and on-demand investment data to a global network of distributed trading and research platforms. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, modifying, adapting, and implementing both short- and long-term solutions for our information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems, databases, and infrastructure. You will review and interpret system requirements and business processes, and code, test, debug, and implement software solutions. Your role requires deep expertise in your field and a solid understanding of related disciplines. You will lead projects or work streams within broader projects and be accountable for your work and sometimes the work of others, offering advice on processes and standards within your specialty. You will work independently, with minimal guidance, and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all parts of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including design, development, and testing.
  • Develop technical solutions following best practices, with some guidance from senior engineers.

  • Identify and address technical debt.
  • Work with existing data models and schemas, suggesting changes and improvements as necessary.
  • Demonstrate strong logic and reasoning capabilities.

Business Knowledge:

  • Work directly with business stakeholders.
  • Make decisions that focus on current and future business priorities, along with fiscal responsibility.
  • Translate business needs into technology solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Typically a BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, with 5+ years of progressive professional development experience in an Object-Oriented language (Java, Python, C#).
  • Experience with automated delivery pipelines, agile delivery, and test-driven development.
  • In-depth knowledge of software design patterns.
  • Experience with AI and Machine Learning application development is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures (AWS, etc.) for containerized microservices and real-time systems.
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced, Agile team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of building and maintaining close working relationships with quantitative researchers, traders, and senior business leaders.
  • Confident communicator; able to argue points concisely and deal positively with differing views.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and results-oriented.
  • Stays current with leading technologies.
  • Demonstrates commitment to quality by implementing appropriate software using unit, integration, and acceptance testing during feature development.
  • Capable of debugging large components independently and assisting others with debugging.
  • At some levels, lead code reviews and actively participate in providing feedback on others’ designs/code.
  • Perform as an expert in one or more areas of the software lifecycle (e.g., coding, testing, deployment). Oversee significant development pieces within the lifecycle.
  • Design and develop practical APIs and abstractions.
  • Manage technical debt within your software.

Preferred:

  • Experience with React and/or Angular.
  • A solid understanding of financial markets and instruments.
