Role Summary
The Sr Product Manager, US Equity, will be accountable for asset class product management, development, strategy, and positioning support for a suite of products within the broader US Equity product range under the oversight of the Head of US Equity Product Management and the Product Director, Investment Strategy. The incumbent will need to influence, elicit feedback from and collaborate with Investment Leadership, Portfolio Managers, other roles within the Product Group, Portfolio Specialists, Marketing, Legal, and Distribution Channels to ensure that the assigned product suite is positioned to enhance competitiveness. The position will be a dedicated asset class subject matter expert and advocate for US Equity within Global Product and vice-versa. This position also emphasizes project management skills to enable effective communication of critical milestones occurring with various product initiatives and the ability to find and transform data into insightful analysis and then clearly and succinctly communicate those conclusions. In conjunction with business leads across multiple divisions, the senior manager is responsible for identifying issues, analyzing alternative approaches, and leading cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
Responsibilities
- Leads product lifecycle activities associated with the launch/introduction, restructuring, merging, closing, or re-opening of new products, classes, or new vehicles, for products within the US Equity product range. Leads all phases of the process from recommendation though implementation. Provides work direction to operating groups once internal approvals are obtained. Partners with Operations, Legal, Finance, Risk, etc. to ensure successful implementation. Evaluates economic success of products.
- Partners with Product teams to build the business cases for new and existing firm offerings in the marketplace, often focusing on highly complex products and/or clients. Demonstrates in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of assigned products, the marketplace, industry, and client need to drive product growth/development and maximize profitability. Identifies opportunities and provides recommendations around product enhancements or market growth. Creates, manages, and delivers customized analyses reflecting advanced professional insights.
- Leads planning, preparation, and execution of product governance meetings for boards, committees, key stakeholder groups. Includes providing highly complex analytical support, documentation summarizing business issues, and presenting materials as appropriate.
- Coordinate and drive competitor assessment & other bespoke analysis.
- Conducts extensive, strategic analyses to provide recommendations to support consistent and competitive pricing strategies and practices.
- Provides coverage and serves as backup to other Product Managers as needed. May lead, manage, or develop a limited number of more junior associates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND
- 8+ years of total relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and CFA charterholder preferred
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), demonstrating the ability to influence people at all levels of the organization
- Deep knowledge of equity products, vehicles, markets, and competitive offerings
- Demonstrated ability for thought leadership and execution experience with regards to product strategy, product development, and product management work, successfully ensuring delivery of good customer outcomes leading to beneficial commercial results.
- Professional curiosity to identify and drive new ideas of opportunity and an ability to pursue problem resolutions
- Strong analytical skills with ability to gather meaningful data and synthesize it to represent a story
- External system knowledge such as Morningstar Direct, eVestment, etc.
- Polished executive presence with the capability to project credibility and gain trust and respect at all levels, internally and externally.
- Ability to manage time and shifting priorities effectively while in a challenging operating environment, and under minimal guidance
