T. Rowe Price manages $440 billion in multi-asset strategies for clients around the world. The firm has an internationally recognised solutions business in North America, EMEA and Asia. The solutions team delivers bespoke investment strategies, portfolio management, market views, commentary, investment insights and portfolio analytics.
The business is seeking to hire a Solutions Strategist and Portfolio Manager for North America, to work closely with internal investment and distribution teams, as well as externally with clients and partners. The Strategist will be responsible for designing and managing investment strategies for institutional and intermediary investors across North America, participating in generating and communicating markets views, and producing and presenting investment insights.
The chosen individual should possess extensive investment management experience in the North America institutional and intermediary markets, preferably with a successful track record of designing investment solutions and managing portfolios. The individual should be responsible and diligent, with a commercial mindset and ability to develop and service relationships. The individual should display a consultative and solutions-orientated approach, be technically competent, collegial, articulate, and able to effectively communicate complex investment strategies to a range of clients.
Primary Purpose
The primary role of the Multi-Asset Solutions Strategist and Portfolio Manager is to represent to clients and prospects the full range of T. Rowe Price investment capabilities; design and manage bespoke investment strategies; service external partners, focusing on their investment needs and in collaboration with distribution; and produce and deliver market views and investment insights.
The Strategist collaborates with internal investment, distribution and other teams across the organization. The Strategist contributes to developing and managing investment solutions, spanning the expertise of the firm’s Multi-Asset, Fixed Income and Equity divisions.
The Strategist should be knowledgeable of investment trends and opportunities specific to the region. It is also expected that the Strategist will be actively engaged in authoring thought leadership and investment insights, delivered via both written materials and speaking engagements (e.g. conferences, media interviews). Other responsibilities include generating tactical asset allocation views and trade ideas, and participating in investment performance and risk reviews. The Strategist must remain current on the market environment, investment philosophy and process and key drivers of portfolio positioning, performance and outlook for T. Rowe Price strategies.
The Strategist will report to Som Priestley, Head of Multi-Asset Solutions, North America, based in Baltimore.
Principal Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior representative of the North America Multi-Asset Solutions team in meetings with investors (clients, partners, prospects), consultants and internal colleagues.
- Develop a clear understanding of the particular needs and interests of regional investors for investment solutions that incorporate Multi-Asset, Fixed Income and Equity investment capabilities.
- Lead the design of bespoke investment mandates through collaborating with investment colleagues in Multi-Asset and other investment divisions.
- Manage bespoke investment strategies. Engage with clients and other stakeholders on issues involving the strategies.
- Contribute to the generation, discussion, implementation and monitoring of tactical asset allocation views.
- Promote the investment capabilities of T. Rowe Price via a consultative, solutions-oriented approach.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of bespoke investment mandates that encompass Multi-Asset, Fixed Income and Equity investment strategies. Attend investment meetings, read research and use information services to keep updated to successfully represent the capabilities of T. Rowe Price and the strategic initiatives of Multi-Asset Solutions.
- Develop presentation/communication/marketing materials, RFP content, investment insights and so on used in support of solutions opportunities and strategies. Activities will require interactions and coordination with colleagues across the organization.
- Advance the reputation and market awareness of T. Rowe Price via the production of thought leadership and investment insights, speaking at conferences, engaging the media and other activities.
- Build close partnerships with key internal teams, most notably distribution responsible for prospect and client development.
Qualifications
- A minimum requirement of an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution and at least 10+ years of relevant work experience.
- Strong preference for experience in designing, constructing, managing and/or marketing multi-asset strategies across a range of client types. Extensive knowledge of the North American market.
- Must have a passion for the investment business with a deep understanding of investment concepts and a strong working knowledge of investment strategies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to present complex concepts to a wide range of audiences in a consultative, solutions-focused manner.
- Exceptional relationship and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact well with clients, investment and distribution colleagues. Responsible, trustworthy, diligent, independent, team player, collaborative, motivated self-starter, driven, aspiring to succeed.
- Ability to travel, including international.
- This role is open to candidates with the willingness to travel regularly to our corporate headquarters.
